November 2017 Newsletter

November begins with All Saints Day. Pastor Bill Bailey writes about his favorite saint, Oseola McCarty, a washerwoman from Hattiesburg, Miss., with a sixth-grade education, who at age 87 surprised everyone by giving a gift of $150,000 to the University of Southern Mississippi for scholarships to help young African American women attend college. When asked why she didn’t spend the money on herself, she always replied, “I am spending it on myself.” You’ll also find stories in this issue about new members, upcoming art and music classes, the Kirk’s Thanksgiving dinner, and much more.
